Boston officially has the WORST diaper rash EVER! Last night when I was changing his diaper he started SCREAMING the instant I wiped his bum. It was so hard to change his diaper but luckily we got through it. Every time he needs to be changed, it literally is a team effort between Kent and I to change and put desitin on him because he screams, flexis his legs, tries to roll over and lifts his butt up in the air! He must be in SOO much pain and I feel terrible! I just wish he would stop pooping so much. He literally has about 7-8 poopy diapers a day! It's terrible and I KNOW that's why he has a diaper rash. I bought a different kind of pamper's "SWIPER" wipes and hopefully it will help...we'll see! Any advice for TERRIBLE diaper rash or how do you stop him for doodooing so much!??
Speaking of the pain Boston is going through, I finally went today to get his blood drawn (I was supposed to go like 2 weeks ago!) to check for diabetes, anemia and one other thing but I forgot. Initially when we got there, everything was fine, Boston was happy and smiling at the nurses. Then they put the rubber band around his arm and restrained his arm to look for a vein. Well, number one Boston HATES having his arm restrained or even moved by anyone anyway and number two they tried it in BOTH arms and couldn't find a vein (must be like his mom because they always have a hard time finding my veins too) so they moved on to the finger prick! So now Boston has his arm restrained AND his fingers/hand restrained. By now he's screaming because just having himself restrained like that KILLS him. He's so strong and is trying to pull away that they nurse dropped the blood collector thing 3 times! Finally, she pricked him (which to him wasn't even the worse part he just hates people holding his arms/hands), got all the blood she needed, then Boston got lose and blood went EVERYWHERE! She finally got back a hold of him and was able to put this HUGE bandage over 2 of his fingers and by the time we were in the car he it ripped it off with blood getting every where! So when we got home, I put a bandage on which probably lasted 5 minutes but at least it was on long enough for the blood to stop! I feel bad for the little guy but I'm just glad it's over and now all we have to focus on is getting rid of the HORRIBLE rash!

Okay....Jake had a really bad diaper rash a while ago and it was not going away so of course I did the BRAT diet...which I am sure you already know(Bananas,Rice,Applesauce, and toast)....this should at least start to get him solid...but it actually wasn't enough for Jake so my doctor told me to go to soy formula for a little while(if you want to know more about how to switch to this for a little bit I can tell you) and then for his rash try and keep it really dry all the time and apply desitin and antifungal cream(this is supposed to be for feet) and you can just get a generic brand...I will have to see what ours was called, but that seemed to help too. What does your doctor say? Rashes are the worst!! And Jake had diarrea for like 2 or 3 weeks...it was the worst! Poor boston...what a trooper...I hope he starts feeling better soon!
Poor kid!! That is horrible! When Livi was little she had rotavirus (it's NASTY!!) and didn't stop pooping for days! We had some cream from the dr. but one thing we did was STOPPED using the wet wipes (they make their bum sting!) and used some homemade wipes. I know that sounds weird, but our friends gave some to us and they didn't sting and they cleaned her bum great! You can go online and get some recipes or email me and I'll give you more info. Here are 3 different sites to try: http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/609/Home_made_Wet_Wipes61236.shtml, http://mainstreetmom.com/budg/wipes.htm, http://www.mommysavers.com/baby/homemade-baby-wipes.shtml
Also, we used Aveeno baby cream with the oatmeal in it..or Johnson's No More Rash Cream. Good luck!
Hey, I don't know if you remember me, but I'm Laura Jansson--I used to be a Burnett and we lived in KY while you guys did. We were the other family with 4 girls--no boys. Anyway, I snoop on your blog sometimes because my sister keeps up with Kristin and I looked on her blog, and it led me to yours. Anyway... I hope you don't mind. But, I wanted to suggest something for your little boys' bum. If you put Lotrimin (that's the anti fungal stuff your friend above suggested) and then top that with Desitin, it should help. It works pretty well for my little girl when she gets a bad rash. I hope it helps. I know it is so sad when your baby is screaming and you can't help it much! :( Good luck, and I hope you don't mind my snooping on your blog! :)
Poor Boston! I feel horrible for him. I don't have much advice because Jack only poops once, maybe twice a day. He has been on soy formula though since he was two months. He also eats a lot of the BRAT diet that Sara was talking about in the previous post. I hope it gets better for him and if I hear of any good advice I will let you know. Good luck!
I all ready gave you advice on the phone on what to do with a bad diaper rash, so I won't bore you agian and leave a super long comment. BUT I will say that Boston looks super cute in that first picture. I love his sweet little face and I LOVE seeing him in shorts. Secondly, I love the picture of his owie. It looks like he is pointing at it and saying, "Just look everybody, it's right here!" We feel for him. Sorry sweet guy about the rough day.
Poor little boy! That is no fun!
Here's our two cents about diaper rashes and little boys.....
Keep the diaper off and let him air out, you know, be free and easy for a while. Not all day, mind you. You wouldn't want to be cleaning up messes BUT keeping the diaper off for a little while, like right after a nap or first thing in the morning really worked for us!
Hope he feels better soon!
