BUBBA'S BDAY WEEKEND!

We had a fun filled busy weekend for Boston! Unfortunately, due to conflicts we had to postpone are Sea World trip to San Antonio that we'd planned so we had to settle for the Houston Zoo instead. I can't complain though, it was a pretty decent zoo and I think Boston had a BLAST!! The rain came half way through our zoo adventure but we sat it out because we were determined to get over to the BIG animals (aka: lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes) that we hadn't gotten to yet and we weren't about to let our money only get us half way through the zoo!
This was the petting zoo that Boston had NO fear of when it came to petting the animals.
All the sudden the rain started POURING down and so we ran for cover. Boston was laughing SOO hard the whole time we were pushing him to safety!
Of course we had to make sure to see the albino alligator. He was staring right at us and I told Kent it'd be pretty freaky if all the sudden he decided to attack and dashed at the window!! Thankfully, we didn't get that excitement but it was fun for Boston to see.
They had a whole "Kid Zoo" area made for little kids. They had a splash park, slides by the otters, caves, and a little playground. Boston can never resist a play ground. Anytime we are in the car and we pass a park he'll sit yelling "PARK, PARK!" for minutes after we've already passed the park! So due to his love for parks and since it was his day, we let him stop and play for a little while!
Boston couldn't resist playing in the rain while we waited for it to stop.

See how much he LOVED it?!?

We were soaked the rest of the day but that was okay, it kept us cool. Boston was VERY entertained by this little reptile thing. He was dying laughing at him!

I was glad we got to see the BIG zoo animals since Boston can really recognize and identify them.

Aren't those the LONGEST horns you've EVER seen?
Daddy, I made SURE to take a picture of this cougar for you! Thought you'd appreciate it!

The zoo was a blast and we finished off the day with a bbq and swimming! You can't get much better than that!

Sunday was Boston's actual birthday so that's when we REALLY celebrated. This year's party was very low key compared to last years. I decided to make it small since there's not any kids here we know very well yet that is Boston's age and we have limited space to entertain....so we'll have to wait for next year to throw a big shin-dig! We invited my Uncle Mike and Aunt Jill over with their girls and then we had the Cook's and Eastman's over as well for cake and ice cream and presents that night.

The BIRTHDAY BOY!

Since Boston is completely and utterly OBSESSED with balls, I decided to stick with that theme. I didn't do anything fancy or too creative (not that I'm creative anyway) and just bought a few things from the party store.
I did decide that ball cakes couldn't be THAT difficult and stressful to make so I attempted to go the homemade route. Why I EVER try to be creative, I have NO idea. I tell Kent to remind me every time I try to do something like that to remind me how stressed and upset and disappointed I get when I try get creative but he never does and I always end up reattempting it. Although you look at these cakes and think that this couldn't have been stressful, you're right, it shouldn't have been but because of my lack of creativity it WAS! Anyway, after a little difficulty, this is the final product.
Boston was a little taken back to be the focus of attention during the "Happy Birthday" song!

"YUMMMMM!!!"
The damage from the gifts.
Boston got LOTS of GREAT presents! He REALLY loves his new train set we got him and I can't wait until we settle somewhere so I can actually get him a train table!
But thank you everyone for your love, calls, cards, and gifts! Boston is SOO happy to have some new toys to have since I'm sure he was getting bored with the minimal amount we were able to load in the car to bring here!
HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY BUBBA BOY!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!

2 YEARS DOWN WITH MANY MORE TO COME!
2 years ago today, I checked into the hospital 2 days past my due date ever so anxious to have this little man!! All I can say is thus far it has been an adventure every step of the way. He has gone from being such a little guy to a big, thick, boy! He's always been so sweet and has just warmed our hearts from the moment he entered the world! Over the past two years he has developed quite the little personality. His one track mind can sometimes drive me nuts but I know one day it will only help aid in developing himself into something great! He makes us laugh daily from his silly dances to his excitement of throwing a ball. His sweet smiles and laughs can just melt your heart. We love his all of his quirks and are so proud of his developments he reached. This little man has changed our lives so much for the better and has helped us want to become the best parents possible in order to allow him to achieve all possibilities life has to offer.

We're so grateful the Lord has allowed us to raise and rear Boston. We love him SO much! He is our pride and joy! HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY BUBBA!!!!!

EXPLORING HOUSTON:
This summer I am determined to explore as much as possible the city of Houston. Sometimes we leave from the summer and realize we didn't take advantage of all the things that city has to offer. So since Kent has Saturday's off this year, we are taking FULL advantage of that and are going to new places every weekend! If anyone knows of anything fun to do here, let me know!
This past weekend we went up to The Woodlands and they have what they call "Market Street" with trolleys and boats to take you from place to place! It's a pretty neat outdoor shopping area. I LOVE the feel of the place. They have condos that I told Kent I could DEFINITELY live in if #1 we had no kids and most importantly #2 if we had NO dog! Kent claims he'd go broke because I'd be shopping daily BUT I told him that there is a POSSIBILITY that I'd get tired of shopping.......
There were all kinds of restaurants that had outdoor seating with music playing and people running and riding their bikes along the waterway. It was just a really neat environment!
Anyway, we explored the area and when it was all said and done we let Boston play with the other kids in the fountains.
Look how HAPPY this boy is to be playing in the water!
After awhile I decided it was time to show off Boston's muscle's so I took his shirt off....okay, okay I was just trying to keep him from soaking EVERYTHING he was wearing!
Then Boston spotted some kids playing with a ball and decided it was HIS turn. Luckily, none of the other kids cared about it any longer and the nice family who brought the balls allowed him to play with it.
We were EXTREMELY hot from being outside all day and decided to hit up the pool with the few hours we had left of sunlight.

Boston again found some one's football and held onto that thing with his LIFE!
Anyway, we finished up the night with the Cook's at KFC trying their new "Kentucky GRILLED Chicken" which got an okay review (I'm a southern girl so I'm going to stick with the FRIED!) and then since Mall Cop was all rented out Kent chose the LAME movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still." If you haven't seen it yet, don't waste your time! All in all we had a GREAT weekend and I'm excited for tomorrow to explore more! PLUS Sunday IS Boston's 2nd birthday!!!!! Can't wait!!!
Oh! One last thing. Today I woke up to this:
Kent popped his head up as soon as he heard me take the picture but he WAS passed out sleeping while Boston was intently watching Barney! Nice right? And yes, my husband IS wearing shorts...

OUR FIRST GUESTS IN HOUSTON!
Mother's Day weekend (I know that seems like forever ago but I haven't had time to upload all these pictures) Kent's mom and sisters came into town for a quick visit. They got here late Friday and left in the afternoon on Sunday so we didn't have a TON of time to explore Houston but we did decide to hit up the Aquarium in downtown Houston. I must say it doesn't compare to the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans BUT it had pretty nice exhibits and outside they had lots for the kids to do. They also had a really fancy restaurant that I made Kent promise to take me to before the summer is over!

Kent showing Boston the alligator...ask Boston to show you what an alligator does next time you see him! He cracks me up!

Sorry for the bad glare.

So I'm not a fan of eels BUT this one was soo pretty...much nicer looking than Ursula's eels!

Look how huge and FAT that fish is!!!

Everyone checking out the fish (Leslie this is the ONLY picture I have of you)

Everyone posing for a picture minus Leslie (she was the photographer of this pic)

Everyone had to take a picture in this...

Sid with that bright green, perfectly coiled snake!
Boston checking out the white tiger exhibit. Random, I know for an Aquarium but regardless they were gorgeous animals!
Hillary and Melia on the ferris wheel
Boston relaxing and enjoying the ride
A family picture. Please excuse my shine and sweat...its not the best picture but hey we rarely get one of all 3 of us!
2 things Kent does NOT like to do as a parent is #1 push the stroller and #2 ride the carousel with Boston! Why, I can't explain but regardless this will always leave ME in the pictures with Boston on the carousel.
I know my son looks miserable here but I promise he LOVED it! He was probably just tired of all the pictures. Poor guy. Don't you love how red his cheeks get when he gets hot? They get this way even when he's just been outside for a little while. He must get this from Kent because this doesn't happen to me.
We also waited in line FOREVER to go on this 8 minute train ride to go under a tunnel of sharks.
If you know my son, you know he LOVES trains so this was probably one of the highlights of his day!
When he finished riding all the rides and exploring the Aquarium, they had a little splash park for the kids to cool off in and play.
Boston went from kicking the water

To testing it out

Then he got a little braver and went to this.
And finally to this!! By the end, he was eating it ALL up!
Sid got soaking wet
and so did Melia!

We had a great time and it was fun to let the cousins play. Boston LOVES having older kids around to play with! Thanks ya'll for taking the time out to come visit!
