A New Do

Yes, I am THAT kind of mother. The kind that just can't stand a bunch of straggly hair that's falling out in random patches all over my child's head. So, what did I decide to do? Yep. Shave it. Kent was VERY against it and even got upset when I asked him to help hold him up while I shaved it off.

He looks like a different baby to me! I miss his sweet hair but it was driving me nuts! So, we'll just anxiously await his new hair to grow in (WHICH by the way has already started growing back funny enough--blonde AND brown). Oh, and by the way, Kent admits it looks better but apparently told me later he was just afraid shaving it would hurt Hudson. Well, since it didn't and he was calm, cool and collected during the whole process, that seemed to calm Kent's nerves about it all.

More Easter

We started out our "Easter Weekend" with our ward Easter egg hunt. We had some yummy breakfast then the kids were off to find some eggs!

This was the start of all the candy that was inhaled over the weekend (okay and STILL currently being inhaled). By the way, don't I have some handsome boys? I think so! ;) This is also the boy's official MATCHING outfit! I'm so proud and I was so giddy about it too! Yes, I'm THAT kind of mom.

We went home that evening and dyed Easter eggs. We've done this now every year since we've been married. I LOVE this tradition.

Instead of using the spoons to take the eggs out of the dye, Boston preferred using his hands.

He was so proud of his creative egg dying.

Our finished product pre deviled eggs (thanks to Leslie a few Easters ago, THAT is now a tradition).

The next morning was Easter. Boston could hardly hold off going downstairs to see what goods the Easter bunny dropped off. I unfortunately was still upstairs finishing feeding Hudson while Boston snuck down. Kent was apparently unable to hold him off, so I missed the initial reaction. Totally bummed about it.

Hudson also got an Easter basket full of goodies but pretty sure this is how he laid the whole time....guess he's not quite into it all just YET...next year!

Lucky for us, Nielsons were in town picking up a new ride they'd just bought which means they got to spend Easter with us! They were our THIRD visitors that week (Jeff & Kelly were here Tuesday and Amanda+kids came Thursday-Saturday)!! We LOVE visitors!

We had a small Easter egg hunt for the kids. Isabel and Boston went to town.

In the meantime, Halle was stuck in timeout. Poor girl! All she wanted was some candy!

I think Kiers finally gave up because if you check out this picture, you'll notice who won (and NO that is NOT blood).

We ate some yummy breakfast (Caramel French Toast)

Then headed off to church where Boston sang with the primary kids in sacrament meeting. He walked up SO proud and sang his heart out! Needless to say, it brought tears to BOTH of our eyes. I seriously can't believe he's THAT big now! Love that kid. Anyway, we came home to eat our Easter dinner & dessert then send off the Nielsons in their new ride back to the BIG D (code for Dallas)!

Kemah with the BFF's

A few weeks back the Nielson's came to Houston so they could visit with Kathi (taylor's mom) before she headed back to Singapore. Luckily, we got to spend a day with them while they were here and we all headed to Kemah Boardwalk. We've wanted to head down there for sometime but it was always too hot in the dead of the summer when it would be WAY too busy so we'd never gone. This day was PERFECT---great weather, not busy and with friends---day! We didn't waste any time and the kids jumped on their first ride. I think all the boys loved it but once the ride started, Isabel was unsure of what she had gotten herself into!

There were a few other rides for the kids to take advantage of. This is how Halle felt about it

Thankfully Boston and Isabel LOVED it.

Boston kept asking to ride the train so off they went on the train ride around the boardwalk.

We finished up at the double decker carousel where I think Kiersten had a little TOO much fun riding.

We finished up the day eating at Potbelly's then hung at out at Kathi's house for a short bit. The kids had a blast and were exhausted by the end of the night! A day with close friends and fun is always a success!

Spring has Sprung

Thankfully, winter is OVER and we have had WONDERFUL weather here in Houston. I pulled out the water table the other day and Boston had a BLAST splashing and playing in the water once again. He's been asking for weeks to get it out of the garage. His wish finally came true!

Our pool isn't open yet but we have been able to go to the splash pad a few times too! Aside from the one time we got chased out by a swarm of bees, we got lots of sun and fun in! Now Boston keeps asking when the pool will be open....you just can't satisfy the boy!

A few weeks ago after playing outside we came in and made the PERFECT dinner that suited the day perfectly. They are called Pizza Dippers and my family is in LOVE! So easy, so fast, and SO delicious! I had Boston help out too and he was thrilled.

Here's the recipe:

Pizza Dippers

2 packs of crescent rolls

1 pack of mini pepperonis

String cheese cut in 1/3

Italian seasoning

Garlic salt

Marinara

Lay out all of the crescent rolls. Place 1/3 of the string cheese in the center. Cover with mini pepperonis to your liking. Sprinkle italian seasoning & garlic salt over top. Roll up and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Dip in marinara and enjoy!

Like I said, fun, quick, easy summer meal! VIOLA!

Houston Livestock & Rodeo

We took FULL advantage of the rodeo this year between our date night to see Tim and then as a family a few weeks back. Last year, Boston LOVED it so we knew he'd love it again this year. Last year we were too late to hit up some of the cute "free" things they put on for kids so we were not going to miss it this year. Here is Boston as he goes through learning how we get our food and where it comes from. I believe he planted an apple seed.

Boston made it a point to hit up every one of these things. He thought it was pretty funny.

This year Boston was also able to hit up the petting zoo (one of the free things we missed last year). Kent took him in while I stayed with Hudson. Apparently, Boston found it more interesting the try to scoop up the poop (I didn't know that was supposed to be a part of the experience).

We didn't buy any of the feed but I'm glad we didn't because there was enough all over the ground that Boston would just pick up and feed to the animals.

This is where we spent most of our money. I think we went back 4 or 5 times for Boston to run through this little fun house. As a mother I was rather nervous to have him in there all by himself but I guess he's a big boy & was able to handle it (although I kept close watch on him the whole time).

The ferris wheel is always a favorite for him. Boston has a great memory & remembered that we rode this last year with Mimi. He kept laughing about how he was making my mom and me nervous as they were swinging the chair as they went round and round. Crazy boy.

Hudson did pretty well and just chilled patiently in the stroller the whole time.

One of the last rides we did was the potato sack slide. They have two and Boston wanted to do the one that was the highest (surprised?). I thought he was going to ride down in the same sack as me but he definitely demanded that he had his OWN sack. I asked OVER AND OVER to make sure that's what he really wanted. I was afraid he'd change his mind once we got to the top but NOPE! So we raced each other down (by the way, I won ;))!

We had SO much fun eating GREAT food (including the fabulous corn but no fried twinkies this time), watching the pig races, riding rides, petting zoo....EVERYTHING! And how do you know you had so much fun??? When you get home your feet look like this:

Brotherly Love

Thankfully, Boston L.O.V.E.S. Hudson. Last week when I left for Utah, he asked if I would go and leave Hudson with him and Kent. I am blessed to have two beautiful, healthy little boys. I can NOT wait for them to get bigger and become best friends!

Boston doesn't usually kiss Hudson. Instead he'll do this (grab his hand and squeeze it tight while mumbling little baby talk under his breath).
