Annual Galveston Trip

Last year when school let out, we went with a bunch of friends down to the beach at Galveston. 

Since the kids had so much fun last year, my friend Mimi got a bunch of us together again this year!

6 moms.

16 kids.

Always an adventure.

Baby Brecken was our newest/youngest addition.  Trying to keep sand, seaweed, etc out of this kid's mouth kept his momma busy!

 I don't know what it is about the beach but waves and a few sand toys can keep these kids busy for HOURS!

 Perks of being a boy....

 Isn't Galveston the prettiest beach EVER?!;) Makes me miss beautiful Florida beaches.

When it was time to go, it felt like we had JUST barely arrived. 

Time flies when you're having fun!

The downside was sitting in Houston traffic and turning an hour drive into a TWO and a HALF hour drive.

Wonderful Houston....

KINDERGARTEN Graduate

Seriously?  Where did THAT school year go. 

I'm pretty sure it was yesterday that I was BALLING my eyes out the night before he started kindergarten.  Now looking back, I'm not quite sure why. 

Everything went GREAT! 

He didn't die, he wasn't exposed to TOO much (although he did come home with a few new WORDS that we needed to discuss), he wasn't swallowed up in the 1300+ kids at his school, he did REALLY well with his academics, he made friends, his teacher was FAB.U.LOUS., and he matured. 

WE SURVIVED! 

It was MUCH better than I expected....although it is SAD to see your child grow up. 

 My sis gave me this idea to have a fun "IT'S SUMMER" celebration surprise when the boys came down for breakfast on the last day of school.  Boston LIT up.  It's the simple things.

The last day, we got to go to Kindergarten graduation.  They performed the CUTEST songs and poems.

"Do YOU remember WAY last fall,

When I was ONLY juuuust this tall.

Now look at me,

I'm up to here.

Oh my I've learned ALOT this YEAR..."

(that's all I remember but it was precious).

I just LOVED his teacher, Mrs. Ramirez---THANK YOU!!!  Teachers don't get enough credit.

We are SURE proud of this boy and all his hard work.

Now it's on to FIRST grade.

Really?

I'm getting old.

Sadly, so is he.

Staycation

While Kristin and her fam were in town for Boston's birthday party, we decided to do a little staycation. My friend had told me about this place off Lake Conroe called La Torretta Resort. We decided to give it a try. There was PLENTY for us to do. I will say, that it's no San Antonio JW Marriott nice (maybe that's set a bad standard for me) but it really was alot of fun and the kids played in the pool from morning until night and NEVER get tired of it.

Hudson CRACKED us up.

Give this boy some goggles and his floaties and this fish is SET.

No fear.

The lazy river was a HIT with the kids.  Hudson would just chill in on someone's lap in a tube and just go round and round (thank you girl from the nice photo bomb).

The big kids didn't care for the tubes and just wanted to race around and see how many laps they could do. At one point their record was 56 laps....not sure if they broke that one or not.

The little boys had their own little splash pad type area. They enjoyed it for a little bit but then preferred staying with the big kids.

When the slides were discovered, I'm pretty sure the kids NEVER wanted to leave this hot spot. Everyone was a little hesitant at first to go down the BIG slides but after a few runs with the adults, they went all by themselves. Kent and Chad REALLY wanted to go down together JUST so we could get a good picture....

By the end of our stay, the kids were EXHAUSTED but didn't want to leave.

Cousins+endless pool fun=GREAT weekend.

So, SO happy they live only a few hours away from us now!!

Lake Summerville

On Memorial Day, our friends, the Buchanan's, took us out on their boat again this year. 

 We are SO lucky to have this connection because we LOVE going out on the boat. 

 Last time Hudson went was two years ago.  He was such a little guy. 

The water was really choppy that day (Ashley said its the worst they have ever seen it) so Hudson was a little nervous to stay in the water long.

Boston, on the other hand, just LOVED jumping off the boat and playing in the water with his buddies.

 He even did a little tubing with Kent.

 Hudson just preferred to snack the whole day.

Don't mind the scratch by my eye that I gave MYSELF the night prior while pulling the covers on me when I went to bed.

 Soon enough all the other kids wanted to get on the tube too!

 Sweet Brecken was a trooper the WHOLE day.  He was SO good and just napped and hung out.  You hardly knew he was there!

 After everyone had their share at tubing, the wakeboard was pulled out. 

Kent had to redeem himself from before.  He had gone out with another friend on his boat a few times early in the morning and had SUPPOSEDLY improved his skills so I was anxious to see the results (basically to see if they were really telling the truth). 

He actually got RIGHT up. 

He managed a few falls...

But fared pretty well!  Okay, okay, I eat my words.

 When it was my turn, I was nervous I had forgotten how.  Thankfully, Kent didn't show me up and I remembered how it was done.

 Although I DID have a few hard falls.  This picture was my LAST fall and I was D.O.N.E. 

 I hit HARD. 

Board came off and nailed my head. 

So I called it at a day.

 After a long day on the water, the kids were exhausted!
