We have been away from Louisiana for awhile and one of the things I've missed SO much is the food ESPECIALLY crawfish! I don't know why it took me THREE years of living in Houston to realize that there are quite a few places here where you can get crawfish. Since discovering that, we haven't stopped eating them this season.
Kent convinced me on a date night to head to the GHETTO to a place that supposedly had the BEST crawfish in town...HANKS! I was hesitant but for once, Kent was right.;) Best I've had in Houston so far and their boudin balls weren't too shabby either.
Last weekend, Kiers invited us down to their crawfish boil. Of course we took her up on the invite. Great company and great food made for ONE successful day of eating! I think 7 of us all together ate almost 70 lbs!!!
This was Isabel's first time around crawfish. She was a TAD hesitant and Boston tried to show off a little to impress. Kiers told Izzy to eat one and she didn't want to until I bribed her with a dollar. Works every time!!
We also had a BIG crawfish boil with a bunch of our friends. This was SO much fun and MUST become an annual thing. There was about 24 adults plus all the kids. We had some people who had never eaten it before and some who are crawfish LOVERS!
This kid was a mess...what's new. Next time I'll get a sitter for this boy so I can actually devour more crawfish instead of watching his every move.
Kent was the chef and I have to say I was quite impressed! I was (we were) quite nervous to cook for that many people but I think they turned out pretty delicious.
The kids preferred playing with the crawfish rather then eating them. I did this is as a kid and LOVED having races with them.
We even got serenaded by some of the kids....then Meg got up and rocked out to the infamous love of her life, Bon Jovi.
Finally on the last batch the cook got to eat. Pretty sure he approved.
Hopefully everyone else enjoyed it just as much as we did because we are TOTALLY up to cook every year!
So far I would call this crawfish season a success!
