Annual Family Weekend Getaway

After last years wonderful experience in San Antonio at Hyatt's Wild Oak, we decided to make it an annual trip every year once the summer is up & Kent's busy season is over. Were we ever ready for it this year! This time, our good friends the Buchanans came with us. Boston loved having Kyler & Camden there to play with! We got in Friday evening and headed straight down to the pool. We were worried that although Texas hasn't been TOO cold this time of year, it has cooled off some and we didn't know what the water would be like. Well thankfully, their pools were heated!

Hudson got in the water and didn't know what to think of it. I think it was a little too cool for him even though it was heated. After a bit, I let him sit on the step of the hot tub and he was ALL smiles.

Once everyone had done their fair share of swimming we headed back to our room, grabbed some delicious Rudy's bbq and called it a night (except the adults stayed up and made it a LATE night). We considered doing Sea World the next day but since the weather was nice & we just wanted to relax, we decided to hang out at the lodge some more instead! So down to the pools we went again! The slide was the main attraction at the indoor pool. Apparently the outdoor slide isn't as fast and hurts your back. So we stuck to the indoor one.

LOVE this picture of Kent

It took some convincing with Boston (Kent bribed him with a candy bar) but he went down...and couldn't resist going back for more!!!

We headed back up for some lunch & put the little boys down for nap while the big boys played with their animals and watched a movie.

Then we thought we would take the boys down to the play in the sand. Sadly, the lazy river was FREEZING and NOT heated like the other pools so we hung out in the sand (for the most part...)

I should have put Hudson in his swimsuit but Kent brought Hudson down after his nap in the clothes he was wearing. Oh well. It was Hudson's FIRST sand experience. He wasn't too sure about it at first but that didn't stop him from getting all kinds of sand in his mouth....yum! Lovely.

My hott hubby just relaxin

Hudson's hair looks CRAZY here.

The boys ended up getting a little wet so the shirts came off so they wouldn't freeze & off they went to play some more...half in the water....off on land.

This was how Hudson crawled around in the sand.

We didn't play in the hammocks as much this year but the boys did enjoy a little swing in them for a minute.

We headed back up for dinner & told the boys they could play in the BIG tub. They loved it!

After a slight mishap with the jets, we finally convinced the boys to let us try again and the bubbles got bigger and bigger.....

They LOVED it!

And once the big boys got out, Hudson had a turn (although he thinks he's big like them, he's not quite yet).

After some dinner, we headed down for s'mores in the big firepit.

One thing I hate about fall/winter....being pasty!

And sadly, the next day was time to leave. But NOT before a late check out and Cracker Barrel for breakfast!!!

We were sad to go but NO WORRIES, we'll be back again NEXT YEAR!!!!

Hopefully next year I won't come home to dog throw up all over my couches and house!!!!!

Thanks for a fun weekend Buchanans!!! I'm already ready to go back!

10 Months

We are two months shy of the big ONE YEAR birthday and I can NOT believe it. Hudson is the sweetest baby with the biggest smiles yet messy, loud & adventurous at the same time.

I finally got a picture of his upper teeth that came in last month. Watch all body parts because this boy puts EVERYTHING (including the walls) in sight in his mouth and now that he has 6 teeth, you better be careful.

Things I want to remember about Hudson:

-he has started to pitch fits if you take something away he shouldn't have

-he is starting to realize when he shouldn't do something and crawls quickly in the other direction when he gets busted.

-he can stand on his own but then gets nervous and falls to the ground.

-he has taken his first few steps but still would rather crawl

-"da da" were his first blabber words but then came ta ta, then na na and FINALLY MA MA!!! Boston talks to him in the backseat of the car and says, "Hudson can you say, 'cement truck'?" We're not quite there yet.

-he waves to you alot more now and its the SWEETEST thing to see him get all excited.

-he has a handicap way of clapping---slaps one hand against his other wrist.

-he has moved up to 12-18 month clothes to my dismay.

-he is getting alot of table foods now and thankfully so far he doesn't seem to picky.

-you have GOT to keep your eye on him because he HATES to be confined. When I'm grocery shopping and even if he's buckled in he will STILL manage a way to get out and start climbing into the back of the basket. He knows how to escape his bumbo AND stroller. Who is this kid?

-he's also got fast hands and can snatch anything at any given moment. You've got to be quick on your feet with this kid.

We love this boy regardless of his busy body self that doesn't want to hold still for ANYTHING!!!

And just for fun I had to add this picture of my sweet coordinating boys a few weeks ago before church.

(please excuse Hudson's greased look. His hair was still damp from the bath)

Fall Soccer

We tried soccer again this fall. Boston has really changed since last playing a year ago. He loved it and there really was a difference in how he played. He got in there alot more and learned what the word "aggressive" meant from his momma. His daddy taught him its ok to push up against someone when trying to get the ball but we caught him a few times just doing it to kids as they are running down the field....whoops!

Boston even scored his FIRST goal this year. He scored once in each of the last two games. You would think that in this picture is when he scored....goalie not even paying attention, Boston all by himself....but NOPE! That dang goalie came out and made a save surprisingly!

This is when he scored the very first time! I didn't get a good shot because I was too excited and focused more on the game then my camera! After each goal, we promised Boston a candy bar (tradition carried on from what my daddy used to reward me with after I scored back in my soccer days). His response, "What's a candy bar??" Lol! Once he figured it out he was ALL about that!! Hershey's chocolate bar was his personal favorite!

Hudson sat on the sidelines & "watched." This boy would sit in his stroller for about 15 minutes then be done and just wanted OUT. He HATES to be confined for too long.

Boston's good friend Kyler played on the same team.

And we got lucky that Mimi got to come to Boston's last game to see him play!! We always love to have a cheering section!

GO SEATTLE SNAKES!!!! Boston is already asking when he gets to start soccer again. Thankfully, in the meantime he just started basketball until soccer season kicks back up in the spring!

Spoooooooky Dinner

We were lucky enough to have Mimi come in town Halloween weekend. We always have so much fun while she's here and the boys (BOSTON) loves to have her around. I was so glad she came because my dad was supposed to come on business the day before she came but his work cancelled his trip last minute & Boston just CRIED! So thankfully, Mimi's trip was already planned for the next day!!!

We were lucky enough to have Mimi here for our annual spooky Halloween dinner. When I gave Boston suggestions on what we should eat he wanted BRAINS AND EYEBALLS again this year! I found these on pinterest and wanted to do them.....well it seemed like something was missing but I was too lazy to go look on pinterest. Later at our friend's Halloween party she did the same thing and I realized it was PEANUT BUTTER that stuck it all together. Oh well. Better luck next year!

We drank BLOOD (Boston was a tad nervous at 1st but thoroughly enjoyed it after he tasted it).

Bones for our side....(some of these really didn't turn out very well because I forgot to let them rise).

And eyeballs and bloody brains for the main course!

For dessert we ate some dirt from the graveyard!

It was ALL very tasty!

Can't wait to do it again next year!!!
