1st Tooth Fairy Visit

Ever since we went to the dentist in October and Boston was told he has a few "loose" teeth, he has been bugging me NONSTOP about WHEN his teeth would fall out.  He's had a few friends loose teeth and just KNEW any day it would be his turn.  Well, the dentist saying he had SIX loose teeth meant he had SIX that would MAYBE start to loosen more in the next six months.  Common DOC!  Kids don't understand that time table...he just hears "LOOSE TEETH!"
Well, THANK GOODNESS the time finally came! Boston's bottom right tooth was finally loose!  That kid wiggled and wiggled at that thing!
Finally one night after bath I was examining his tooth and I just KNEW it would come out anytime.  I told him to try to twist it around in a circle to loosen the last few roots hanging on.  I even stuck floss as deep as a could around it to loosen it even more (I was SO afraid it would fall out at school and he would loose it and be totally depressed).
Sadly, we had ZERO luck before bed....
At 4:00 am Boston got up to go to the bathroom.  I sent him back to bed and JUST as I started to zonk back out, I was woken up at 4:30 to Boston shaking me in excitement that his TOOTH had just fallen out!
He was on CLOUD NINE!!!!
You seriously would have thought he just saw Santa delivering gifts on Christmas Eve!
He then asked if the Tooth Fairy would come that night (morning)...yeah...no.  I told him the Tooth Fairy already had done her rounds for the night and he would have to wait for the next night.
Thankfully, he went right back to bed and waited for the Tooth Fairy the next night to come.  He was VERY happy to find a dollar lying under his pillow the next morning (SO glad the tooth fairy didn't forget to visit...although she DID happen to leave the tooth behind in my scriptures on my night stand which was later found by this curious five year old...)!
His next question, "When are my other teeth going to come out next?"
I tell you what, that boy has been moving the crap out of those teeth to get them to loosen up...

Texas Bluebonnets

I think it was last year that we went on a hunt to find bluebonnets.  The thing about them is that they are very sporadic.  You don't know for sure where they are or even how long they will be around.  Sooooo apparently last year we went too late and I made Kent drive an hour out and an hour back for nothing.
Let's just say, he gave me a hard time about it.
This year, I did a little more research and was DETERMINED to get there this year.
I made Kent PROMISE to be patient while I was taking pictures for however long it was going to take.
Boston was hesitant because his teacher at school told the class there were ANTS in the bluebonnets.  We tried to assure him it was fine but it took some convincing with Kent searching every spot when we took pictures.  Turns out she was right.  LOTS of ants but thankfully, not the kind that bite (although this still didn't give Boston the reassurance he needed).
Regardless, I think we got some good shots.

Easter

I felt totally prepped and prepared for Easter...until as I was driving home from HEB grabbing all the last minute stuff for Easter dinner, I called Kent in a panic because we TOTALLY spaced dying Easter eggs.  I had to leave for the YW broadcast that night in less than an hour.  I told Kent to hurry and prep for Easter egg dying and I'd grab a pizza (I also spaced dinner for the family).
I feel like we always seem to space this step almost every year.
Anyway, luckily, the boys got their chance to dye eggs.
Hudson was just dropping eggs left and right into dye.
Boston tried to be meticulous making sure each looked PERFECT (to his standard).
The next morning, the boys were OVERLY thrilled to come down to find their Easter baskets.
Yes, I'm pretty sure I over did it this year...although in my defense I HATE giving candy in the baskets because the kids rarely eat it then it's left for me which is NEVER good....SO I end up over doing it with "stuff" instead.
Honestly, I had just been picking things up here and there and didn't realize until we were laying it out what all I had bought.
Whoops.
Next year WILL be scaled down.
Then the boys were off on their Easter egg hunt.  Hudson stopped a few times just to open the eggs to stuff some candy in his mouth.
Last year, the we started the tradition of the GOLDEN EGG.  Boston found it this year (although next year, if Hudson finds it, this may cause some issues and some MAJOR competition in years to come).
And YES that PJ top needs to be retired
Having 9 am church, we rushed to get ready.  I seriously look forward to Easter just to buy the boys new Easter outfits.  Yes, I have a problem.
Hudson totally did NOT want to take a picture with me.  I couldn't even get him to come close.  Such a stinker.
But of course, he runs right to Kent!
So I was determined...doesn't he look thrilled??
We had a GREAT day at church where we were able to talk about and learn more about WHY we even celebrate Easter.  Perfect holiday to always fall on a Sunday.
Once we got home, I spent the rest of the day in the kitchen.  For some reason I was SUPER excited to make Easter dinner this year.  One of the BEST parts was the RESURRECTION rolls that I made.  Thanks to a random stranger in Target for suggesting them to me, I went home, looked up to see what all the fuss was about, made them, and fell in LOVE!  They are DELICIOUS and the story is cheesy but helpful for little kids (although Hudson was my only helper....Boston refused to help).  This WILL be a new tradition.  I do have to brag about how delicious our dinner was...especially because the yummy strawberry shortcake I make every year BOMBED because I forgot to put the sugar in the whipped cream!  When you remember the SUGAR, it's the best you will ever eat!  There's always next year.
We finished the night off watching this with the boys.
I really try to teach the boys WHY we celebrate these kinds of holidays. At the end of the night, Boston said, "Christmas, Easter and my birthday are my FAVORITE holidays because I get presents!"  I gave him a funny look and then he mumbled,"....and because its all about Jesus!"
Hey, I've got to make sure to get the point across!
HAPPY EASTER!

Camping Trip

On Good Friday, we planned a sort of last minute camping trip with our family.
I really wanted to do something Easter weekend and of course Kent's first idea was to take the four wheelers and go camping.  He had been itching to do this forever and since it wasn't too hot or too cold, I was totally up for it.
The boys were anxious as soon as we got there to hit the trails.  After we got camp all set up, we headed out.  We all got a tad muddy (the boys LIVE for that) and I was VERY happy Kent surprised me with some good riding/mudding boots.
Kent wasn't overly happy that I killed one of the four wheelers going through some deep water (problem is now fixed so all is well).
We came back and got busy trying to start our fire to cook dinner.
Boston was being taught some trusty boy scout skills.
And before we knew it, we had a fire to roast our hot dogs on.
The thing about camping is you just don't care WHAT you look like.
The boys NEVER got bored.  While we relaxed around the campfire, they were chasing each other laughing, playing, hiding...seriously it was perfect.
One of the BEST things about camping?  Making s'mores of course.
When it was about time for bed, I was a little hesitant to see how Hudson would do NOT being in his crib (yes, he's 2 and still in his crib).  We put them both on an air mattress and I totally thought they would play and be silly (because that's what happens in their bedroom at night, Hudson is just CONTAINED in a crib).  To our surprise, we seriously didn't hear a PEEP.
They were OUT.  Thank goodness.
The next morning, I bombed the breakfast.
I totally spaced bringing salt and pepper for the eggs and who can eat eggs without that?
So, without any complaints we snacked on powdered donuts and bacon.
Pretty sure my boys would eat that everyday for breakfast if I let them.
The boys (ESPECIALLY Hudson) were getting SUPER anxious to go out on the four wheelers.  Since the one was dead, we all piled up on ONE four wheeler.  That was a sight to see.  I'm sure more than one person there thought we were crazy (AND TOTALLY white trash).
Kent got a little TOO confident and ran Big Bear into the deepest, gooiest mud whole.  We were stuck for a good while but finally after lots of digging, lifting, etc., we got good ole Big Bear out of the mud.
Boston even got lucky to have his first driving lesson.  He thought he was HOT STUFF.
We had to get back for noon, so we got our stuff loaded up shortly after.  The boys played in the dirt (because that's just what you do when you camp) while we loaded up camp.
Hudson got upset any time Boston played with whatever car, he wanted...
That's what happens when you are SUPER tired.
Boston was OUT after minutes of being on the road.  Hudson on the other hand, screamed a good bit of the way home.  Aside from THAT part of the trip, it really was a TON of fun.
The boys got to be boys.
Boston repeated multiple times that HE JUST LOVES camping.
I do too (as long as the weather is right).
