first day of preschool

Last year, Hudson had a love hate relationship with preschool.  I'm actually not quite sure he ever LOVE, LOVED it.  Which made me quite sad.  For whatever reason, he wasn't OVERLY thrilled to go each day.  There was a kid who wasn't always nice (not a bully, just a kid who wasn't always nice) and I think that took a little toll on him.  Because of that, I've been nervous to see how he would react to preschool this year.
I kept trying to build it up and so when his first day arrived at his new school, Sprouts Preschool, he was totally ready and excited.
His teacher is Ms. Ashley who has been SO sweet to him.  Also, somehow we ended up getting in the same class as THREE kids from church.
There were NO tears from anyone and this is what Hudson's adorable face looked like as we were leaving!  You gotta love this boy.
I'm sure this year will be SO much fun for him full of playing, meeting friends and hopefully getting FULLY prepared for Texas Kindergarten!!!

labor day

We decided to let the kids go at it on Labor Day and rented a bounce house waterslide.  The kids enjoyed it ALL day.  We came out with just a FEW injuries....I guess there's reasons they have rules for those things.
It was a successful Labor Day...one that we need to do again!

the trainging wheels are off

Hudson has been needing his training wheels off for months and months!  I've been nagging Kent but for whatever reason, it's just been put off.  Well, I finally decided to take it upon myself to teach this kid how to ride his bike.
So...the training wheels came off and with one small little push, Hudson was off on his own.
 DONE.
Just like that this boy was riding his bike!
I was exhausted chasing him up and down the road.  I think he only fell once but he's Hudson, so he shook it off and was up ready to go again.
He still needs to figure out how to start out on his own but otherwise, he's a pro!
I'm proud of myself for "teaching" and I'm proud of Hudson for picking up so quick.  Hopefully, he will love riding his bike.  Boston could careless (what kid doesn't like to ride a bike?) so I hope Hudson is the opposite!

houston or bust

We took a quick trip down to Houston with Kent since he had to go down for work.
We definitely miss all our friends in H-town.  It was so fun to see the looks like the Buchanan boys' faces when we showed up at their front door!
These boys are best friends!
It was such a quick trip but it was nice to get away for a few days, go on a date night with friends, see old friends and let the kids hang out with their buddies!!!  Thanks for housing us Buchanan's!  We WILL be back!

3rd grade

On August 26th, Boston started his NEW SCHOOL, Light Farms Elementary with Mrs. Smith as his new teacher.
The school is literally right in our neighborhood  directly across from where our house is.  When the house finishes, it will be SO nice to be able to walk to and from school.  Boston THINKS he will be able to walk by himself, but I'm a little bit of a helicopter parent and that won't happen.  Sorry kid.
I was a tad nervous for him starting his first day because he's the new kid.  I always get so nervous in those situations but this kid could careless.  He never hesitates in new situations and I marvel at him for that.
He came home and LOVED his first day and of course, already met new friends, loved his new school and LOVED his teacher.
It feels so nice knowing this is where we are planting our roots and knowing that this is the school all our kids will go to (not to mention I LOVE our neighborhood)!
Here's to our new life in Prosper!

goodbye summer

The Saturday before school started, we decided to have one good send off to summer by going to HAWAIIAN FALLS water park!
To say the boys had a BLAST is an understatement.
We got to meet up with some of our lifer friends, Ciara and Jamie and their kiddos too!
The fact that we all live so close now is beyond me.
The kids took in EVERY slide each time and LOVED it!
Thanks to Jamie for taking care of Nolan from time to time so we could ride and ride!  Plus, she's the queen of this place and gave us free passes for food, drinks and ice cream!  It's good to know people!
Farewell summer, we will miss you!

one year milestones

Weight: 22 lbs 14 oz 69%
Height: 29.9 inches 41%
Head: 48 cm 90%
This little ginger haired,  big blue eyed boy is trying to keep up with his brothers.  His head is BEYOND huge and on most occasions has some sort of bruise on it.  It's constantly getting in the way.
Or it may be because this boy is VERY curious and is determined to climb up on almost anything!
That poor, poor head.

He started walking all on his own just a few days after he turned ONE.
He got his first pair of SHOES and he was a tad confused at what was on his feet.  After a little bit of wearing them, he was adjusted.
Not only is he my first who LOVES his Momma and is "somewhat" of a cuddler (I use that term loosely), but he LOVES books.  He will sit SO still while you read him books and often times, I'll find him sitting on the floor looking through them himself.  I LOVE it.
We have entered the age where church really just stinks.  Nolan is SO busy at church and Kent and I are BOTH exhausted by the time the three hours is over.  It also doesn't help that it's during his afternoon nap.  We came home one Sunday and he just collapsed on our pillow.
He's quite the clapper and waver lately too.
Anytime someone says, "bye," he's waving.
If someone says "YAY!" he's clapping.
Also, anytime you say "night, night" he will lay his head on your shoulder.  He also makes the CUTEST "Ooooo" sound while he puckers his lips together at almost everything he sees.
Why are all these little things babies do so adorable?
He's pretty cute and happy MOST of the time---minus the fits he throws where he literally throws his whole body on the floor!
We sure do love this kid and I most definitely LOVE this phase and the next few to come.  They are way busier for sure but it's just fun and exciting seeing them turn into little people with their own personalities!!

camping party

We held off celebrating Nolan's FIRST birthday PARTY due to a BUSY August.  We waited until Labor Day weekend when my parents were going to be in town to party!
I decided on a camping theme because.....I just wanted to throw a camping party (and it's my favorite party I've thrown yet).
Here's our happy little camper:
I have to give a shout out to my husband for making my TENT for the table AND the sign (he built, I painted).  He's the best to just sit back and take on whatever task I ask him to do.
We had some fun  "camping" type games for all the kids.
Ladder ball & corn hole (which Kent also built) were hits.

The kids sat on blankets on the lawn to eat their dinner.
We also played the donut on the string game and had a nature scavenger hunt.
Don't mind my interesting self in the background...
Then it was time for CAKE and SINGING!
He slowly dug in
And eventually went ALL in
And eventually I think we scared him with all the attention, flashes, singing, and laughing.
Whoops.
And then it was over.
Sorry for not letting you eat your cake in peace.
He got his first sink bath.
The party was a success in my books UNTIL I forgot to lay out the party favors.  We were SUPPOSED to have everyone fill a bag with whatever "trail mixin's" they desired but I completely forgot so I just took a picture of the sign and bags and then I was stuck with TONS of food for trail mixes.
We LOVE our little HAPPY CAMPER!
Happy Birthday little dude!
