School started back up August 26.
I was ready and I wasn't ready.
I have to admit, I was almost just as nervous this year as I was last year when he started kindergarten.
Not sure why?
But now that he's in first grade, he's a pro at this school thing so why worry?
His sweet teacher last year was somehow able to RIG it so that all of his buddies got in his same class.
She raved to me about his teacher but I've heard different reviews from parents so we'll see how the year goes. So far, nothing but positive.
Seriously, he's getting SO big.
We struggled picking out a good back pack/lunch box this year. After directing him away from the "Skylander" backpacks (yes, I'm one of "those" moms who doesn't do the character thing), the one he wanted was sold out by the time mom got on to order it. That started a whole new issue but luckily, we FINALLY found this one that he seems to be just as pleased about.
Boston did ask to make sure we were going to walk him into school and not just drop him off.
He was worried when he saw lots of people in the carpool line.
I was happy to know that even though he's totally laid back and chill about school, he still wanted us to take him in on his first day (especially because I know that won't last forever).
His response after his first day, "My first day was GREAT. My teacher is a GREAT teacher."
Perfect.
At the end of summer, I had asked Boston what ONE thing he wanted to do before school started. With ZERO hesitation he said, CHUCK-E-CHEESE!
Gosh, I hate that place.
We had so much going on that I had a total mom fail and didn't get us there before school started. He wasn't too happy about that until I made it up to him by going the first day of school.
I scored even MORE mom points when he walked away with more than 1500 tickets (thanks to the game malfunctioning)!
So between all his buddies being in his class, his teacher being great and scoring BIG at Chuck-E-Cheese, Boston's first day was a completely SUCCESS.
Let's hope the school year is successful too!
